Well all my Base jumping friends , I'm off to jail today to start my three month sentence. does
anyone out there think that it was a coincidence that I must surrender one week before bridge
day? they tried to keep me from attending last year and almost succeeded. but at the last
minuet with Fred's help we managed to stay one step ahead of them and I was able to attend my
11th year. it has been a hectic time for Brenda and I, and they seem to have effectively shut
me down this year. I'm sure society will benefit from this action against me for a noncrime
misdemeanor. they said I must pay for what I did because of the extending and aggravated
circumstances which was the death of Paul Thompson. the charges were aiding and abetting. I
stand by my belief and understanding that if there was no crime committed in the first place
then all the extending and aggravated circumstances don't apply . it's the same as saying I
aided and abetted him to jet ski, cliff dive( into water without a rig)boating, swimming ,
parasailing , hang gliding, paragliding,float planes ,and yes they have said that it is even
legal to jump out of airplanes and parachute onto the lake without a permit. saying that a
parachute jump is clearly distinguishable from a BASE JUMP. and a BASE JUMP is illegal with
out a permit. An absolute folks, there is absolutely no law whatsoever stating that BASE
JUMPING is illegal . air delivery is what they use to manipulate this regulation against us.
the latest brief filed by the US attorneys office has run out of answers . they are stepping on
themselves and talking rederic circles,(a PARACHUTE JUMP is Ok but a BASE JUMP is NOT, go
figure.
If I had fought and won the aiding and abetting . we would already be back to square one.
no 10th circuit appellate review, no principle established, and no precedence set. I simply
would have been acquitted of "The Crime" which is "aiding and abetting, delivering a person or
object by parachute , helicopter, or other airborne means. I chose not to let that happen but
instead challenged the root crime of this aiding and abetting, which again, is the air delivery
regulation. I took my chances and now the 10th circuit court of appeals must review our case.
they did not want this to happen and offered me several plea bargains that if I had taken I
would be going to bridge day and would not owe over seven thousand dollars in fines and
restitution. I got slammed because I stood up for what IS right . they are not right ,this is
not right, and it won't get right until we make it right. please don't let me sit in there for
nothing. we have momentum and ammunition. Frank paid the ultimate price and it CAN NOT go
unnoticed! Then there is the Yosemite prosecutor Scott Conelly who was convicted of rapeing
little boys and even videoing himself doing so. he got 16 mouths and walked. he should have
gotten life just like the others of his kind get when caught doing the same thing.
collectively we are an incredibly talented and motivated group . It's time to motivate and
rally whatever it takes to expose this flagrant abuse of power and waste of money. The permit
system in the NPS was meant to manage not to
I will miss all of you at bridge day this year. I hope it all goes well and everyone stays

any support will be greatly appreciated. As I am out of work for the next three months things
are going to be tight. I'll be back and when I am it's going to be my turn.
as long as the MUFF BROTHER flag is flying I'll be there. The NPS doesn't even have a clue.

you should have known better than to push him, at gunpoint, off that cliff. second, why on earth would you let him jump with a parachute? don't you know that all those crazy kids are suicidal maniacs with a death wish... all of you jumpers should be ashamed of yourselves for thinking that jumping from fixed objects is considered a sport. if you want to participate in a sport, try golf or bowling. if exercise isn't your driving force, you could instead be concentrating on the more important issues in life as discussed on such television shows as 'oprah' or 'ricki lake'. jumping from objects? i think not, where is the skill? gravity does all the work for you, and a parachute doesn't take any more skill to operate than an automobile... dennis, you are the devil. you should be punished. deep inside, you know that what you did is very, very bad... i hope the time you spend in prison will teach you a lesson. i hope the money we citizens spent on the trial, the appeals and your incarceration isn't wasted on a feeble mind that has given nothing to such a small 'community'. every day, i wake up thanking god above that there are people in our government who take it upon themselves to make sure that people like yourself are locked up... especially now that all the rapists, murderers and theives are off the streets! i hope they throw away the key you awful, awful man.

I just got out of jail in Thomasville GA for the WCTV tower jump and I can tell you that the present system is not working. I am forbidden from BASE as a condition of my probation. How can they say I can't even come to bridge day or to Moab or to Twin Falls or the many other legal sites ? What do we have to do ? Take up bowling ?

Dear Concerned Citizen and Tax payer,

While you waste your time tongue lashing the BASE community, our freedom in the National Parks as we know it is slowly coming to a halt.

What you are loosing sight of is that this is *NOT* a Dennis McGlynn fight, but a fight for equality and the *RIGHT* to drive on the highway's that we pay for, drink the water that we pay to purify and enjoy *OUR* National Parks the way we want. Whether that activity be watching a Television program from a cabin in the woods, a stroll through forest, climbing on rocks, rafting on a river or parachuting off a cliff. All activities can be done safely and responsibly!

A young lady sometime ago in Alabama decided that she didn't want to ride in the back of the bus anymore. She stood up for what she believed in and made a difference!

My sisters and brothers we will make a difference and we will overcome this obtacle and demand equality in our National Parks!!

Not only is this a N.P.S. issue it's also about the erosion of the rights guaranteed by our constitution. I strongly urge everyone to read about and write to your politicians on every level and vote on every level. Before we know it it's going to be to late

He was convicted of "Aiding & Abetting Aerial Delivery where a death was involved."
It all stems from the death of Paul Thompson while cliff jumping at Lake Powell the summer of '94.
Even tho Paul drove his OWN vehicle to the lake, took his OWN boat out on the water and was jumping his OWN gear - Dennis was found accountable for his death.
While it is very sad and unfortunate that we lost a good friend, no one made Paul go to there on that trip and jump............he knew the score - that people do die BASE juming.........

But the logic of the NPS is that Paul wouldn't have been there if Dennis wasn't there - therefore, Dennis was responsible and must pay for his heinous crime.

So folks - be careful out there - the same thing could happen to YOU! If you drive a friend to a jump - hell, if you just MEET a friend at a jump and your friend happens to get killed - YOU might find yourelf looking at charges of "aiding & abetting where a death was involved! Pretty scary thought eh?!

While reading 'Skydiving, I came upon an article about Frank. At the same time I was writing on the base board. I inadvertantly placed Frank's name in the heading.... After it was posted, I looked for every possible way to change it, but could not find a way... You have no idea how bad I feel about this because of the circumstances surrounding Frank's death. Please, go back and read the posting thouroughly. To the end... Including my "name"... If you are infuriated, good. You should be. But this is how the general public view our lifestyles, including my family, and they know I jump. I hope you all will forgive me for the obvious mistake, and any pain I have caused family or friends for such a blunder... But I was in fact trying to make a point.. However subtle it was.. P.S. I just got back from a tower jump... sick sh*t.. I'll never stop no matter what uncle sam says... Peace!
