Re: Search for missing parachute jumper

I just wanted to say that a friend of ours has kept his promise to keep us all informed.

Roger Butler's body was found and recovered from the Snake River Friday.

Maybe now the healing will begin.

Thanks for your sincere caring, Brian.

    Peace, Roger.

RE: Re: Search for missing parachute jumper

Could someone fill me in a little more about what happened. I'm not being morbid but was not sure what occured. I would like to say that if you have never been dragged in a river it is a frightening experience. I once jumped in high winds and landed in the snake river. The canopy dragged me backwards and then a line wrapped around my right ankle pulling my leg backwards. I was able to overpower the canopy by pulling it towards me and then my feet touched bottom and I could make it back to shore. All this happened when I landed only about 10-12 feet from shore. Some bit of advice from a newbie, in an adrenaline advanced panic, it is hard to find the cutaway on a base rig. Get to know where it is and possibly practice a cutaway or two with your eyes closed. It was an experience I can never forget.
