    Wingsuit concept feedback

Hello everyone!....so I decided to join this forum to get some feedback from experienced wingsuit flyers.
I've been looking at the design of wingsuits and love the basic principle. Best described as fast and effective lol.
The concept I've been considering would (if effective) create a longer jump, more control, and the option of having
Speed or sustained gliding for a slower decent. I've researched and examined flight stability in birds and bats and have
Come up with an idea that I would say is best decried as a combination of a wing suit and a paraglider...parachute would function as normal. Essentially it would be wingsuit with an extended more sturdy tail section and the option of opening and closing the enlarged wings for either higher speeds or a sustained glide....any info or feed back would be great .... And if people would even be interested in something like this.

    Thx for your time

Design it, build it, fly it, debug it, and then come back with the results!

How are your sewing skills by the way?

Haha there good enough that I wouldn't be worried about the stitching
As for the design it's already done it might need to be tweaked at a later point. at this point in time I'm looking to build a prototype...still working out what materials I plan on using.... I'll try and get a picture up tonight

    Re: Wingsuit concept feedback

Honestly i think the goal of everyone building wingsuits is to be the fastest and most effective. And im pretty sure we have all looked at flying creatures in order to get ideas for suits. The couple ws companies out there have pretty much got it down. I am trying to start a new ws company myself and after a long couple years i am almost ready for business. I have built and jumped a couple prototype suits in the past, and It is not a easy task at all. You are going to get angry, throw objects, and cuss alot while designing a suit. They both had a bunch of stuff that needed to be "debugged". The first suit i taught myself how a ws is built and how important sewing really is. The second suit was all about fixing basic construction and improving aerodynamic design. And over the past year i have concentrated my efforts into expanding my "loft" and also redesigning and building my third suit design. It has some final construction tweaks and a aerodynamic design improvement I hope that it will be my production prototype. But if something needs to be changed ill build another design. Should have the new suit done this week just waiting on zippers to come in the mail. All in all there is def a reason why everyone doesn't build there own ws. Its hard work.. And. Nick is right, you really just have to build one, jump it, see how it flys, make improvements, and try not to die flying your contraption

When was your last skydive and have you ever flown a wingsuit?

My feedback is to be an experienced wingsuit pilot yourself before developing the next revolution.

I would take it seriously; but it's serious and ridiculous at the same time. -sl
