I was surfing around in www.break.com, and I found a movie about BASE launching.

Or what sort of equipment is used?

    Re: BASE Launch?

I cannot see the video, but if the setup is made by two cranes and a system of pulleys/hoists, the bloke is a French (Swiss?) stuntman, who was used to skydive years ago, thought about this stunt, took back skydiving for training for such a stunt, and arranged the setup. I read his posts describing the whole setup. The horizontal bed helped to avoid the black out phenomenon that incurs when standing human body is subject to several G's of acceleration, all the blodd goes down and (same human body) faints. Laying horizontal in the "bed" there is not such phenomenon or, at least, it exists only to a minimal extent.
Judging from the time spent flying with open parachute, the maximum height reached with the launch must have been at least 100÷120 m - 328÷393 ft.
Quite effective system to do a "safe" BASE jump, but extremely costly indeed, imagine the daily rate of two cranes like those one, plus the hire of the area, other equipment (pulleys, hoists, whatever). It's very nice but it's a stunt
