Hi guys,
I am still on the long and slow road to doing a BASE jump (still learning). Recently I have purchased an ACE canopy 240 that I am hooking up in a skydive container and am going to jump (Skydiving) and have a lot of drills to be doing whilst under canopy.
I have recently been talking to a BASE jumper in my area (well 5 hours away but that’s no problem) and have had some advice about practise launches into water, which I am now starting to do. I am filming these so when I go down and watch them jump I can show them and get some feedback.
What I like to know is there any advice you guys have on practise launches, I have been told to go in head high and feet must hit the water first. So far I have found a tendency to go very wide with my arms and have a really hard arch with the upper body, so I am working on keeping relaxed through the launch. I am keeping my eyes on the horizon and find that although my feet do hit the water first I do get a belly flop sensation too.
Thanks guys
Ian
Edited to add: currently have 730 skydives, none on large 7 cells yet hence the hooking up of ace to skydive Currently living and working in New Zealand
