    crossbow

does anyone have any experience of how far or better yet how high would a crossbow take an arrow attached with a sort of a string. Have in mind something simmilar as Felix did in Rio, but the thing that is bothering me is a bit higher, round 70 meters.

    info much appriciated.

    Re: crossbow

I've seen bow hunters reel sharks in (so strong line) on lines that they can shoot upward of 100 meters.

Do you have to sneak the crossbow in? If not, you might try a regular bow. The arrow will have more carrying force, so the flight will be distorted less by the weight of the trailing line. I've got an 85 pound compound bow, and although I haven't tested, I'd put money on it being able to throw an arrow over 70m into the air.

As a side note, Dan Osman used a potato gun to shoot lines across a 600 ft (or so) gap between two formations in California.
