    RE: another accident on Brento

The pursuit of happiness is supposed to be a basic freedom.
Would you selfishly demand that I abandon my freedom,
    and my pursuit of happiness?
My whole family know of the danger I face at each jump.
I doubt my Mom, my Wife or Child would demand I stop.
BASE jumping is a way of life, that's right, LIFE.
We're all going to die eventually.....
If I die of old age, are condolences going to help?

"Happy are those who dream dreams,
and are willing to pay the price to see them come true".

HERE HERE AVERY !! Couldn't have said it better. Carl always said that BASE JUMPING is the Celebration of the Human Spirit. That doesn't mean we are heroes, but it should mean that we have a right to exercise that spirit if it is not to the detriment of others. With the kind of conservative mentality in the world today, Columbus would have been arrested before he ever sailed West to go East without charts. By the way, brother Randy and his new first wife Shirley, are on his 33' sailboat sailing for Cuba from Key West along with another 60 boats in a "legal" regatta tonight. He should be about an hour into the Gulf Stream right now with predicted 7 foot seas. Sounds like fun. Avery, keep up the good work. Maybe Joy and I will make it to New River next year.

I've had a couple e-mails questioning my reply post...
There's a missing link, who's author perhaps removed it,
or maybe the administrator removed it.

My reply was not to Marco, but to someone anonymous.

The first reply to Marco was this:

"No name needed" (that's the anonymous part)
and, "Your condolenses are useless, anyone who
    BASE jumps is unbelievably selfish".

I'm guessing the anonymous post came from a surviving
family member of a BASE jumper lost recently.
She'll have to get over it sometime......

    To which I replied..........

    RE: another accident on Brento

Hello, I just want to state that I recently lost a soul mate from base jumping about 14 months ago... At first I was mad at the whole base jumping clan for the death of my love one... The people I should really be mad at is my soul mate. I have a baby with him and our baby was just turning 7 months old when I lost him. YES it is very selfish for those who base jumps when they have a family... But then again, if you force them to stop doing something that they learn to love and do, you will make their life a living hell. Even though your will be a living hell after the death of your love one...

You will be the one to learn to deal with life so much better as it did for me. For those who are still alive and having problems with their soul mate... You just either got to compromise with one another and if that can't be, then you should not be with the nagging soul mate. Now that I've been without the man of my life, he would want me to call him a stupid idoit for ruining the sport for those who loves it. And I do!
