    Airlocks for BASE Canopies?

Just curious if any base gear manufacturers have any designs in the works for airlocks on base-specific canopies? I saw some footage last week of a cliff strike from Earl's Moab crew where the canopy was TOTALLY deflated at one point in time whilst sliding down a crack in the wall. Being able to at least maintain a partially inflated canopy during object strikes where air speed is 0 would seem to be a major bonus.

BTW, many thanks to the Atlanta crew for a leap from the 41st floor penthouse last week. I'm jealous of your city...too many objects, not enought time to do them all.

Jason, come back anytime. I've already been on the roof of a sure thing (remember the hotel you can see from my balcony?) Plus I came up with a killa new exit point from the $5 mill penthouse B. And the search continues...

    OGG,
I checked for low fares...... for $138 and 7 days notice I can be in Atlanta. Sound Good? Then you can get up here and get your 'E'

    RE: Airlocks for BASE Canopies?

    Hey Jason,

I could of used that myself on my cliff strike over the new years holiday. The end cells just caught the cliff, but as soon as they started deflating the canopy swung the rest of the way and then completely deflated. Only the snagging of the canopy on the rock slowed my slide and saved my ass (along with a lot of good luck). An interesting thought, those airlocks may have allowed me to get the canopy off the rock.

    RE: Call VERTIGO

Hey, I've got a great idea....
Let's move Bridge Day to Tombstone this year and give everyone new airlock base canopies. Then we'll definately know if the new design will work or not :)
Seriously, I think BASE canopies with airlocks will be a magical combo. I volunteer as the first test dummy!

    RE: Call VERTIGO

Will a airlocked basecanopy inflate as quick at low airspeeds ?

    RE: Call VERTIGO

The 'Shaman" will be in Moab but not in the competition (a religion thing)

low speed inflation hasn't been any different
the problem is deflation if a quick get away is needed :-)

If you click on the link, it will take you to the jedei owners manual. The jedei was (the first?)a canopy designed with airlock technology, and this page will explain everything about it. Later. Arc.
