    Daggers and 5th Control Line Mod

    I am looking to add a 5th upper control line to my Dagger266 and have been speaking with J at V as he has been testing this over the past few months. He has made a good few jumps with the new 5th control line set up and has sent me his findings (thanks Jimmy!) - I just wondered if any of you other Dagger jumpers have made this mod and I would like to hear your technical details and your experimental data on what you have found with this before I go to my rigger and ask her to do what I think should be done!

    Jimmy - if you could post your findings I think some would find it interesting - especially about the backing up on Rears!

    This is what I found:
    I have done enough jumps on the 5th to give you my opinion. The setup I used was to add the line on the next seam inboard from the existing 4 lines. I finger trapped the 5th line into the inside most brake line 7 inches above the cascade of the uppers and lower. I only trapped 2 inches of the new brake line into the existing line, so the existing line shrank as little as possible. I did not adjust my brake settings, but definitely found the canopy to act as if it were in a bit deeper brake setting. This will definitely be up to the jumper and how they are already loading the canopy. It definitely has a bit more "bottom end" on the flare, meaning that when the canopy has lost most of it's forward speed, it's still got some lift left. Very nice in this respect. I did find however, that on several jumps at the Perrine bridge, when I would back it up on rear risers, it tended to "fall off" of the straight line that I am used to. Perhaps this is due to less of an opening at the tail for air to channel through. Overall, I am quite happy with the 5th line mod, although I would not say that I am raving about it. My next set up will be to move that additional line to the gap in between the 3rd and 4th brake line to see how I like dat.
