Yuri is in Northern Norway until September 5th.
Anyone have his cell number, there, by the way? I need to get in touch and try to hook up with him in a few days.

I think he is in Norway right now, flying around the fjords and doing other such worthy endeavors.

I think that if a person were to accomplish this, the best method would be wearing skis or a snowboard and landing on a steep, straight hill. (ski jump landing hill, such as at Planica, Yugoslavia, or Vars France speed skiing hill), and just hum it down to the ground, and ski out the speed. that's the way I AM GOING TO TRY IT. not real soon, as I don't jump a wing suit yet. Maybe my death will come from crashing skis at 140 mph, as I am trying to land my wingsuit. and if I get real serious about it, I won't even wear the rig, because the extra weight takes away from lift, and flight ability. though weight may create more speed.
geeez, I gotta start jumping one of these wing suit things.......or at least jumping again......
Peace out,
Thomas Mauch :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Dude
With no experience, this is my observation, which might be wrong.
Jumping a wingsuit, and trying to do the 'stand-up' during your final approach for the 'ramp', you loose rapid altitude and forward speed, as seen on some wing suit video's. Thus, I think you would be better of by strapping a old wooden sledge to your chest, then aim for the 'ramp'. If you make it, you slide down, if not, the broken wood might 'sofften' the impact. (Just wear a chest plate so the wood does not puncture a lung.)

Sorry but PLANICA IS IN SLOVENIA and not in Yugoslavia. }>

It's usually because I am exercising my feeble excuse for a sense of humor, having a go at one of my friends, or making an inside joke.
Still, it is a good story, if Yuri wants to tell it.

yes, it's a good story, but Dennis should be telling it. About landing with the slider still in the rubber band etc .....
How about step by step.... Has anyone 'flown' a wingsuit from a ski-jump ramp?
I'm working on flying a wing suit off a ski jump ramp. first off, I ski jumped for 13 years, from 5 years old, til 18 when I could start really flying (Skydiving). my longest jump is 80.5 meters, or 262 feet, on a K-87 meter ski jump.
some things need to happen before I ski jump again wearing a wing suit upper half, designed for this type of stunt.
First, I need to start flying my wing suit arm wings. this will be a good fun thing to practice.
Second, I need to get current ski jumping again. I don't think I'll have a problem with it, but who knows after the surgeries I've had.
Third, I need to be ALLOWED to start an unlimited class for ski jumpers. They have junior (18 and under), senior (18+), masters class (old guys), and some classes like A and B class for real good people (i.e., Europeans). sorry, but here is a sport where the USA just plain SUCKS. our best olympic jumpers cannot even make the cut-off for the second round of jumping. Alan Alborn, of Alaska made the second round this year. and I used to jump with him at Lake Placid. he was better then me back then also.
anyways, I will let the BOARD know when I start making steps to Ski Jumping MY wing suit creation.
Peace out,
Thomas :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
That 2 way clip was the coolest! How hard is it for an older guy (30) to take that up?
Lucas, what are you talking about? Clarify.
I let Dennis the Russian tell it when he gets round to surfing this site, but...
.. he pulled too low off Le Magland in France, so low infact that he impacted with the slider still in the rubber band on the centre cell C line. It was a wingsuit jump and he walked away after five days in hospital. I think it was muddy and steep where he hit.
he walked away after five days in hospital
oh, i see
lucky flocking bastard!
Lukas they build Russians tough ....
