    towers

I about sh!t when I went to americantower.com and found that they actually have elevation and plan drawings, panoramic photographs from the top in each compass direction, photos straight down from the top, and photos of the transmitter locations for the tower I jump.

I was trying to find a way to issue a work request, because one of their A/C units has a bad bearing or something and runs continuously. It makes a hell of a racket when I'm trying to gear up.

I bought an American Tower logo sweatshirt from their company store, to show my appreciation for their fine structures.

    I'm such a geek.

That is _so_ sweet! You gotta support the manufacturers any way you can...

For sale - a business in the making

Talk about a prime buying opportunity. Apparently, ATC is unloading a bunch of their tower properties that aren't cutting it financially. The whole list (in Excel, so you can sort it by tower height) is at:

    http://www.americantower.com/acweb/A...eSitesList.xls

You lucky hounds in the Texas/Nebraska/Ohio area could pick up any one of a number of 500 foot towers as your own personal BASE playgrounds. And I bet you could get a super price on 'em too.

If anyone in that neck of the woods is interested in partnering on a purchase proposal for one of these towers, drop me an email. I'd be interested in helping to put together the financing package.

Yes, I know that 500 isn't the optimal BASE tower height (1800 would be much more fun), but we could start with a 500 footer at a super price, build some revenue with that one, then use cashflow to build a bigger one. I think it would work.

Hopefully some intrepid local is interested, and we can set out to build the first BASE-specific jumping business in the world!

    Two words:

That is why the legal system is so ##### up here in america!

Learn from the europeans....If you make your own decisions, then you must live with all the consequences of that decision.

Mick, you're preaching to the choir, Buddy. We all wish the rest of the country would take responsibility for their own mistakes and let us take responsbility for ours. Some people just love to govern and regulate the lives of others, don't they?
Good luck, D-Dog and any other potential investors. We all want to see it happen!
    Love,

Don't forget about your best bro who would never sue anyone but when he goes in his parents take your first born.

But Hey! I'm 100% behind you going for it. We've all talked about the "Base World" concept for a long time. Someone has to sack up and do it.

I have been thinking about something like this for a long time i dont think you will make a lot of money out of base jumpers jumping it my plan is buy a 100 acre propty that has sh!t mobile phone resption you can get the anntenee cheap, the cash is transporting to your location and restanding it then rent space at the top to the mobile phone companies all of them but the heat will be a lot so get a big anntenee say 1500ft and put the jumping platform at say 300ft below have a lift and let your buddy's jump and the cash you get from the companys will pay off the outlay for the tower might take a while but fu(k it and sh!t you might make some cash and have a cool site .

thats the 10 year plan as anntenee's are my fav..

John Hoover was always dreaming about own an old defunked tower. He said he would add a 200' radius pit around the tower filled with the kiddie balls from McDonalds. it wouldn't save someone going clean in, but would help if some one had a aprtial malfunction.

It always sounded like a great idea to me.

    Was it de-funked? Or defunct?
Either way, the kiddie-ball pit sounds like a fine idea. Might even create a new sport! No rig needed at all, just perfect body position to survive a higher freefall than your friends!;-)

    RE: towers

    L.L.C.
    Limited Liability Corporation

X owns a tower. Y leases a section of said tower from X. Y then incorporates under a fictious name, builds a $100 platform and puts $500 in a bank account under the corporation name. This can all be done in a day at your local county court house.
Less than a $100 here in Flordia.

As long as the business is legal X cannot be sued. He is merely leasing a piece of Real Estate to a business.

Y has a net worth of $600. Hardly worth sueing.
The President, Vice President, Board of Directors. Etc. are personally protected under the corporation.

Lease. Don't buy. Keep assests to a minimum.

I'm not an attorney and I don't play one on T.V.
