    Insurance?

Just curious... will most insurance companies pay for BASE jumping injuries? I noticed Tom A. mentioned his insurance company covered his accident - did they know it was a BASE-related accident? Does anyone else have any experience with insurance companies either paying or not paying for such injuries?

    RE: Insurance?

I know that 610's insurance covered two separate BASE accidents.

If I'm reading the USPA's mouthpiece correctly, current U.S. law is that health insurance has to cover your injuries, no matter how they are sustained (even if it's lawbreaking).

According to USPA, that's in danger in Congress right now, though.

    RE: Insurance?

I started my new job 8 months ago, and during the orientation, the HR manager asked if we had any questions. I asked him if there was any kind of activity that would prevent coverage. He laughed and said "no, you're covered even if you decide to do something crazy like skydiving."

I then asked him if you were to get injured during the commission of a crime, would you *still* be covered. He looked puzzled, I then explained BASE jumping to him. He made a point to call the rep and explain the circumstances. The rep told us three things:

    1. I'm covered under my health insurance irregardless of how the injury occurred.

    2. Don't even bother trying to get additional life insurance.

    3. Mental Illness is covered as well.... not quite sure why he decided to add that.

    RE: Insurance?

yah, my understanding is that life insurance will not pay if you intentionally endanger yourself, skydiving included.

    RE: Insurance?

I got life insurance from a major player, New York Life - I'm covered even if I go in skydiving. It did double the premium for the first six years, but I didn't want to lie to them and risk my kids not getting the payoff.
