    My woman and BASE

My woman has a hatred/fear of BASE. She has gotten used to me skydiving and is quite comfortable with it. She was terrified of it but I took her to my DZ repeatedly and now she's fine. But when it comes to BASE, she is totally against it. She won't even talk about it unless preceeded by "I can't believe you want to..." I'm a nice guy, but I'm going to make my first jump here soon and she's freaking. Anyone have any advice?

    RE: My woman and BASE

Well you have a few options here.... I'm going to stay away from the obvious "find a new girlfriend" as I'm sure you really love her and only want the best for her. With that in mind, might I suggest.....

    1) Tie her tightly to the antenna (or building or span or cliff) with her head and face in an upwards pointing direction and start climbing. I also suggest gagging her as her cries and pleas to "Please STOP!" will only raise undue suspicion with neighbors and possibly bring police or security gaurds, thus throwing a nondeserved monkey-wrench in your first jump attempt.

    2) Bring her to Bridge Day in October and let her hang around all of US. I'm sure he'll see that we're really quite NICE and TRUSTWORTHY folks, more sane than she prolly ever realized was possible. Or, if while cruising into the Holiday Inn, she should happen to run into some of our family's more rogue-ish members first (Skypunk!), let her party with us for a week and if she survives to Sunday, you'll both go home and she'll be GRATEFUL she's with someone as kind and nurturing to her well-being and upbringing as you and will never leave you.

    3) Depending on her ability to think under pressure (this can be tested if you bring her to BD in October) buy her a skydiving rig and ... well... you know what comes next

    4) And finally there's the disclaimer on many BASE canopies... "To avoid getting busted, broken-up, dumped by your significant other, or KILLED... stay home!" (well, that's my interpretation of it anyways).

    Good luck mate!

Tell her at least she doesn't have to worry about the plane crashing. Go for it!:7

I take it that like me you told her the all the facts about BASE because you wanted to be honest. Bad idea. Too late.

Honesty is not the best policy - to everyone else out there remember to prey on the ignorance of non skydivers.

Jumping out of a plane is far too risky, all that height, I mean the speed you pick up from those heights! Instead you want to keep it nice and low, you never get to pick up that much speed and your so much closer to the ground so it's way safer. Besides your far too much of a##### to jump out of a plane.

Oh yeah, don't let her near BD or let her watch any of your videos especially the copy of "Seconds to Impact" where one of the participants doesn't even make it to the end of the programme (that went down like a pork chop at a jewish wedding with my girlfriend).

Good luck, I totally understand your situation and believe me there is no easy way out, perserverance is an option if she'll let you get one word out but that's not always easy.

Tell her it's nature's VIAGRA, and you could knock over a tower with your schlong after a nice subterminal freefall. :-) She'll groundcrew for you every night.
