In the week preceeding his tragic death earlier this year, Trevor Yates penned a reflective literary piece on his BASE jumping experiences and thoughts for the present and future. Trevor was a skilled and respected adventurer, and a much loved friend and family member. He was liked by most people that met him due to his down to earth, friendly nature. He will be missed by all those who knew him.

His death and the article he wrote are both ironic and tragic. The article emphasizes the importance of preparation, use of appropriate equipment, and the right mental attitude. It also shows that Trevor was at the forefront of BASE jumping all those years ago. Yet Trevor's outdated equipment was the major contributing factor in his death. He was caught in an equipment time warp - had he used modern BASE technology he may still be alive today. We should all heed some of his words and learn from his tragic death.
