    We still miss you, Nik

Not a day goes by that I don't think of you, and smile as a result. I'm still waiting illogically for my phone to ring and hear your cheery voice on the line. . . wherever you are, I'm sure everyone is having a great time as a result.

    Peace, my friend,

RE: We still miss you, Nik

My feelings are of profound emptiness over the flukey bugger. Comes up everyday in one way or another in my life also.

How do you celebrate one's life? We did it best while he was living.

Nude jumps off CP, his first building in PDX, many of his first objects, drag BASE, mushrooms, finally meeting Ken (the State Park manager) together, Nuclear Cooling Tower, Diving (Nik was the king of the inward from the three meter - god he took a hiding), stories of "shagging" conquests, the best lawn in NE Portland, my first truck monster show, the political genius of BASE, asking "Slim do you still have a rectal wink?" when I first came too in hospital, and the morbid slide shows I "had too see" of his upcoming forensic lecture. These are but a few of the things others may recall.

Another life lesson learned - I hated it at the time but I am truly glad he won IPBC champion in its last full year. It was his greatest day in competition. He never did the jump he planned right except on the day. He would always ask "Slim, you don't really think I pull it out of my arse do you?"

I never thought he would beat me. Bloody hopeless bastard beat everyone and we never lived it down. He will remain unbeaten champion. From then on it was always "Well who in the world here is no.1 anyway?" to Dwain and my demise. He had us on that one and he loved it.

Wanted to ask - anyone ever win an argument with Nik? I mean where he would say - "Yeah your right, I f&*ked up!" I would love to know about it because in all the time we spent together I never did.

The tenacious bugger could recall every crap unstable jump I ever did and would remind me instantly if I ever criticised his exits (there were a few real horrors). BUt he would always "pull it out of ..........." when he needed. Just wish he had that day in Switzerland.

Guess the charm runs out for all the lucky ones eventually. Even with the "Lucky Meteorite!"

    "It's all about liven!"

I learned not to argue with him. It was easier to agree completely and egg him on to greater and greater heights of self-important blather. Or, if I did argue, it was for the same goal. Nik in full-flared soliloquy mode was a sight to see!

He did, indeed, have some shocking exits. Nothing to match my truly execrable ones, perhaps, but quite entertaining nonetheless. His memory was indeed fine, though he was also skilled at moulding it to the point where he'd "remember" some things a little more, um, creatively than how they actually happened.

He was a treasure to all of us, and he taught me so much about how to live life. The best I can do to pay that back is to pass on some of the lessons he taught me. I'm finding that doing that is, in itself, an incredibly rewarding experience.

    Peace,

Slim, I won an argument with Nik. He actually said "I thought about what you said and I think that you're RIGHT and I was Wrong!!!! Hell hath no fury... Thought you might want to see some pics of Nikolas enjoying himself in Paris. Adrienne

Well, "Special Agent Sparrow!" it was only due to a women's touch. Good One!

You managed far more than my mortal soul. Although the bugger (when he knew he was wrong) would secretly shift sides after a bit of time passed and the subject would not be brought up again.

I remember inadvertently mentioning around him how cool I thought I would be with an ear ring. Several weeks later I was with his Majesty at the Salem County Fair and we were a bit "under the weather". After taking several pictures exposing ourselves underneath the "Prise Cock" chicken display we were making our way down sideshow alley.

Before I knew it Big NIk announced "Slim - here we go matey!" - he had signed me up and paid for my ear to be pierced in some dodgey tent. I sobered immediately and started to argue the fact that I did not think it was such a cool idea anymore. Water off a ducks back. Nik signed my indemnity and shoved me into the tent with a "Don't worry I am his Doctor!" to comfort the rough looking attendant displaying reservations at my reluctance.

The attendant then came at me with a lance. To my horror and Nik's delight I was butchered in this back alley den. Within minutes I was shoved back out into the bustling night as white as a ghost and wobbly with shock at my traumatising experience. Nik was beaming. "I look like a homo!" I said when I saw my new ring in the mirror. "Just a tiny prick and look at you" he said. He had to carry me around for a while as I was feeling faint. Nothing a few beers and a trip on the fairest wheel couldn't solve though. I learned to adjust to my new look.

It was not the first time he would challenge me to something I was unsure of.
