Between this thread and the other one, I gotta ask. Exactly how new are you to either sport. Like 0 jumps, or 1? I don't mean to be confrontational, but this thread sounds like you are looking for people to jump with, and then you post the other one that seems to reveal your intentions.

Well.. as it seems that many agree and have emailed me with questiones on my intent. I have to apologize for the misleading posts. The first one about looking for someone in my area is just that.. I am looking for someone in my area to jump with.. or to learn from.. new as in .. like 25 skydives... and no.. i don't want to rush into anything .. i am just intrigued and can feel a strong addiction coming on.. nothing wrong with learning as much as possible.. right? I don't want to hurt myself or anyone else.. now to the research paper.. i was thinking as i was typing.. im'ed my instructor who was online and he said it was a great debate topic and to bring it.. so i am simply trying to get a mulitiple-perspecive analization of the "why"... i have read a lot of crappy reports on BASE and skydiving.. just wanted to attempt an honest report on it.. after experiencing the spiritual awarness that they DONT talk about in the magazines and the tv shows.. i felt it necessary and benifitial to try and share.. i hope that is answer enough for you.. if not let me know .. and i will try and explain further.. :o)

    Brooke--
No, not really. I'm not trying to be a dick, (but I usually end up looking that way anyhow...)The point of my obscure post before was not that you didn't MENTION BASEjumping...it was that it sounds a lot more like you are talking about skydiving. THESE ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SPORTS! Frankly, it doesn't sound like you are too experienced in either skydiving OR BASEjumping, so my suggestion is that you drive out to Byron (I'm assuming that's where you jump), practice your skydiving skills and start asking questions about BASE. Soon you will know enough to perhaps ask some more informed questions in this forum. Also be aware that most people in this sport (myself included) prefer to remain anonomys to the creepy public anti-BASE law enforcement types, which is why most of our screen names are stupid Chit like "motherhucker".
When you are out at byron, talk to the MAD STYLE guy who is a rigger. He knows a lot about a lot and is a downright good fella. Ask around, they'll tell you who he is...but I won't.
good luck with your psychological profiling--and be thankful you're not cracking open any BASEjumper's skull...you REALLY don't want to know what's in our heads. Trust me on this.

WOW.. you just seem to come off that way huh?? would never have guessed it.. :o).. but i am trying to take this all in stride.. bear with me .. not like you have to .. or like it sounds like you want to but hell.. so far so good i have broken into a few heads.. and i love it.. i want more.. if you don't think you can sit down and actually dig into your own you should simply state that.. the ones who are shared have been amazing and inspiring.. and if this forum is not for quesitons perhaps i read the information wrong.. so you suggest that i learn more before i ask questions huh?.. interesting appoach .. but hell.. who i am to have an opinion yet right.. ??.. if you dont want to come off as a jerk than dont its in your control.. like the beginning of my post.. makes me sound like a smart ass.. which i am.. but hey.. you know more than me.. flat out.. i understand that perspective but try and see mine.. i am trying to do the psychological perspective justice.. in that part.. i think i might have you covered.. so that is what i am asking about.. also.. i would like to chat with locals about the sport.. i like to talk to people and hear the "war stories" if you will.. curiousity killed the cat... but satysfaction brought the bastard back.... :o)
