Good Post. Knew about the Russian dude, wasn't aware of the others. Have heard the Russians had a tactic for a while where they would fly low and lapse their soldiers out over snow. According to the story-the Germans painted some rocks white and that tactic was abandoned...

Magee fell over four miles before crashing through the glass roof of the St. Nazaire railroad station. Somehow the glass roof mitigated Magee's impact and rescuers found him still alive on the floor of the station.

if the airplane spin out of control you can lose 10,000 ft in no time, but still even fall form 8-9,000 ft amazing to survive a fall on to a solid ground through glass roof. people dies from 10 story building

I don't believe that people can survive these falls. I am surprised that so many jumpers do believe these stories.

as you read the article is was fully investigated incident, you only fall at 120mph so if the slope is at right angle and there is some thing that can break a fall like lot's snow tree etc... but some time just luck. like a baby was the only survivor of plane crash, or person sitting on same row one dies and other not a scratch. thing happen the you can not explain some times but that dose not means it dos not happen. MOTO-GP rider crash in speed over 120mph + a lot and they just walk away. any thing in possible

I think it is more like when there is a skydiving or base jumping incident, and the news is reported as "Parachute fails to open", but in reality the parachute does open and there is something else going on. When you say "anything is possible", are you also considering what is probable? Is it possible that information sourced from military origin is not true? Is it probable that stories told by captured enemies is not true? Is it probable that these guys were not wearing their parachutes during their missions? How did they know that their parachutes were damaged, if they did not open them? If they were not wearing the parachutes, where were they at? Would there have been enough time to inspect parachute gear while your plane in on fire and spiraling out of control. Would you even be able to get to the parachute gear with a plane spiraling out of control in order to inspect them? These stories don't make any sense to me. These guys most likely were wearing parachutes that may have been damaged or otherwise malfunctioning, and which slowed their descent rate enough that pine trees, snow, or a roof, was able to break their fall. Do you really believe that someone could fall 18,000 feet with NO parachute, fall through trees, land in snow and suffer only a sprained ankle? Do you want to buy a bridge in Brooklyn?
