Hello. I'm just getting into skydiving and am extremely interested in learning to base jump. I have been doing what all the sites say and reading everything I can get my hands on. I have only done a tandem and am going for my license in the spring but I live in snowy Canada and i can't start getting my license till the spring. I have been trying to find information on the local base community and cant find a single thing. How do you go about doing that and finding a mentor. I know i have a long long way to go bit I'm extremely interested and stoked on seeig what this awesome sport is all about. Your responses are most appreciated. Thanks everyone.

What province are you in? I've taught and jumped with some great guys on the Northside.

Also, there's always tandembase.com!

I'm in Calgary Alberta. I bet there is a decent base community around here. I have only seen jumpers once while climbing on a local mountain called Yamnuska. There are lots of big cliffs around some as high as 600-700 meters. I've climbed a lot of big faces around here and am really interested to find out how many of them have been jumped. Really exited about learning as much as I can. Have been reading all I can get my hands on and am almost finding I'm running out of stuff to read on the Internet. Does anybody know good books for skydivers getting into base and specifics on what to sturdy and practice. Thanks for the quick reply hamsandwitch.
