WS accident on new line off exit point he had jumped before. thought he judged it right with math and it went wrong.

No matter how refined the mathematical models are, logical models are what they are, just models.
Each jump is a classical space-time singularity not the normalized sum of many possibilities. The "shit happens" factor embedded in many natural algorithms is an intractable computational problem, so in the end you got to play the roulette if you dare to do it. Having seen we're all going to die, the odds are always against you.
On a different note, using the leg wing to turn causes little altitude loss and keeps the system much more leveled.
It does look like a sketchy looking jump but I bet someday someone will fly over that ledge.
