I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that despite poor acting, weak storyline and plot, and probably way too much ego; the jump footage and cinematography is likely to be awesome.

If Miles looks like the best actor in a film...you're in trouble. Looked fun as hell to make...maybe in my next life I'll be cooler. If I could do that for a living, I'd love it.

More power to em...I'll certainly see it.

Stand by for the massive influx of idiots to the sport come fall. We should start a carnage pool. 2011's BFL number? I'm in for $20. Abbie can be the bank.

I didnt realize it was going to be that type of movie, I was expecting more of a documentary. Guess I will get ready for lots of cheese! The flying looks like it will be pretty awesome though.

Yea, I think the visuals are going to be awesome, you're just going to have to suffer through the dialog in between.

Hmmm, looks like fun nylon porn.
Cheesy lines & acting for sure but
if you don't take it seriously then
it should be a blast.

Plus how often do you get to see
guys you have shared a beer and
or a jump with on the big screen?

Stand by for the massive influx of idiots to the sport come fall.

And I'm totally looking forward to it. (seriously) I'm an AFF instructor :D

Point Break did the same thing, so did Dropzone to some degree. It doesn't last log but gets a few first timers out plus some that actually have a clue.

I don't care about the acting. Non jumpers don't know any better. At least this time the skydivers are the actors so it's unlikely you'll have mini risers on a tandem solo rig etc...

Having seen Avatar in 3D (film was shit, but visually quite interesting), I think the visuals on this will be amazing with the 3D...... I just wish they did a summarised version that shows just the flying parts without all that gash acting and storyline inbetween :)

Hopefully it's going to be at the Imax up by me! We'll get a group up to go no matter what, I think the BASE/wingsuit/skydive footage will make it worth sitting through the RBAF shtick.

my favorite surf video ever was "The Show" and it was structured like this as well, you have to just not be looking at it as a good plot or acting... this is a movie that makes a joke of those things so that we can get a laugh but puts other aspects other than jumping in it so that the general populace will see other things to help keep their attention. im looking forward to seein the movie in hopes that it makes me laugh and i get some sick flying footage to watch!

Man this looks like an awful movie but some great camera work so I guess we'll just have to put up with the terrible plot.

I second the call for a return to Blinc, Mick Knutson is owed a lot for starting this website in the first place when there were only a few hundred jumpers, or is that Mick Knutson has a lot to answer for now that there are 1000's of jumpers ;-)

Is this movie out yet, because I'm starting to get a ton of people calling me wanting to base jump with zero parachuting experience? Is it wrong for me to tell these callers that THEY are the insane ones?

We had a BASE jumping documentary on UK BASE aired here in the UK around 9 years ago, and a couple of friends of mine working at dropzones had call after call after call for months from people trying to buy parachutes because they lived in 8 story blocks of flats, or because "they just have to do that"...

This was on a small UK TV channel almost a decade ago...

I bet its easier now to get a BASE rig than it was a decade ago...

there is nothing wrong with people being interested in what we do in my opinion. i think its our job to educate people about the sport, and the very real hazards involved, in a responsibe manner, but really we were all crazy to think about getting into this sport, even if we are not any more =). we just need to push people towards skydiving i think. i think if things are done right we may just be able to change the public opinion of BASE jumpers personalites and nature. but in the end, we as humans will always want to do somehting if it looks cool!

There IS something wrong with people who think they can simply pay a few bucks to rent a base rig and off they go......

Me.. i just take for granted that people dont understand, at all. i dont think anything is wrong with them or crazy/dumb :)

I often get over excited for things then after a couple of reality checks and maybe a bit of a letdown i start over my view.. or hell with it, next idea.

Looking forward to the movie.

And hey! like the forum.

I don't care how terrible the plot looks I love base jumping too much not to see it.
And another upside is maybe it could get more people into the sport? Maybe that won't be so good for the stupid people with no experience...
