Probably sounds really stupid, I was woundering what are the differences between a base rig and a skydive rig?

A skydiving rig has two things that a BASE rig doesn't:
1.) a reserve
2.) the stamp of approval from the FAA

A BASE rig has two significant factors that make it better:
1.) simplicity
2.) no stamp of approval from the FAA

A Base rig is designed to open fast at low airspeeds.

A Sky rig is designed to open slow at fast airspeeds.

(YMMV in Norway)

Generally, a skydive rig has an asshole attached to it; with a BASE rig that's only an option.
