Canopy color selection...

Does anyone have any thoughts regarding the color selection of whatever base canopy it is that you plan to jump? I've seen quite a few out there with subdued colors that look like they will blend into the night sky pretty well, but I've also seem some with some pretty wild color schemes. What types of things do you think someone should take into consideration when it comes to the color of their equipment?

If you plan on jumping urban dont get neon colors. Or do it anyways, hell, its not my canopy.

fuck that shit kiki, get a brown canopy so that if you hit hard with a little bit of fabric over your head and you shit yourself, the canopy can be used to save your dignity and blend with the poo.

Always get a different color center cell to help with packing.

Colors don't really matter at night, with the exception of white which will reflect the light, everything blends in on the ground at night. If you are in the air, nothing will blend in really, they all stand out. I haven't noticed much of a difference between an all black canopy or one chock full 'O cartoon colors.

I would go with Mick on the center cell and maybe alternating colors on the 2 and 6, just to aid in packing. And yea, I know a "real" BASE jumper doesn't need differently colored cells or lines or packing tabs, but when packing in less than optimal conditions, a quick easy visual reference never hurts. =;>

The guy from apex said that he believes its more of the sound of a canopy smacking open that compromises people than the color. Is the color of a canopy something to put a lot of thought into? Or is the whole idea of having dark, and flat colors just too much effort for something that doesn't matter?

i know that it is definitely a good idea to have the center cell a different color for us inexperienced folks but having the mid cells different colors might be weird. im gonna stick with royal blue outer and maybe a maude, possibly mustard or even salmon center cell. or fuschea............
