No Doubt. The trail is gone now and there is a six foot deep trench down the side where the trail was. Its a whole different hike out so look the funk out for falling rocks. I knocked two boulders loose on the way up a couple days ago but there was no one below me so i don't think i killed anyone. But there are seriously lots of loose rocks ready to go and they will be falling all summer as people go up the new trail. so don't scurry up the hill and if out loosen up a rock yell that shit out so you don't hit me. Tell your friends and peeps that are coming out here.\

I know a few have helped to improve the trail at the bottom walk out... but what about getting together an event where jumpers help improve the climb out?

If everyone just does maintenance each time one the way up it should be good, but if an event is wanted then bring it.

Does the city of twin mind if we put a proper trail in? I had heard that building a trail there was questionable. With all the traffic it sees, a proper trail with switchbacks is in order... I'll come and play in the dirt myself if we have approval...

I vote to keep the impact to that canyon minimal (no pun intended). The boy scouts fixed up the trail out the bottom years ago. Works great if you choose not to hike up the side.

and please no more gigantic ramps that Tom Ahole use to bring out again and again to impress people. Tom's ramps were raised up about 6 inches off the sidewalk and created a hazard and obsticle for pedestrians and bicyclist. Tom doing that specific thing caused citizens of Twin Falls to call and complain to the authorities and the result was that it pissed off the cops and the idaho transportation department. He knew that but he kept doing it and pissing people off.

We always use to keep a simple plank of wood no thicker than 2 inches by the visitors center and they never had a problem with it. The 2 inch plank is really only 1 3/4 inches raised up off the side walk and works perfect and no pedestrians or bicyclist have ever complained about a 1 and 3/4 inch raise off the sidewalk.

So now that Tom has left town, if you desire to use a ramp for exit, can everyone please just use the standard thickness plank we've used since the 90s.

We need to preserve Twin Falls

There are actually plans in the works to develop a set of Canyon Stairs that would start near the new statue and go all the way to the bottom of the canyon. The idea is that tourists would spend more time than the 15 minutes it takes to watch a few jumps before moving on, not to mention that they would build up an appetite and then hit a restaurant. There would be several smaller observation/ rest points on the way down which would also give spectators some cool new visuals. I think that part of the plan would be to improve the long hike into something more akin to the canyon trail above.

This is likely a long way off as I would expect it to cost $500K and the economy sucks. If it were ever to come to fruition it would be pretty freaking awesome.

That would kick much butt...

I was thinking of something as simple as taking 200-300 bucks and buying some wood, ropes, anchors. Something minimalist that isn't ugly but will help the saftey of the climbers and the people below from rocks...
thoughts?

I vote to remove the rope and handcuff Jeb to the tree in it's place.

Listen, I'm not defending Tom in any way here, but maybe, just maybe if you didn't go around slamming someone or another who hasn't said shit about you in every one of your posts, then you wouldn't come off like some sort of cunt and maybe you'd get a little respect.

Oh gee, I'm sorry I hurt your feelings jp.... I was just saying something true about your mentor. I guess on the dorkzone, the truth about Tom would be censored by that all powerful oz behind the curtain.

It snowed a few inches this morning, so I doubt its getting any better, but the long hike is always OK. Give me a shout Hank and we'll make a few.

Don't worry cupcake, my feelings are just fine. I'm not sure where you got the idea Tom is my mentor, and this isn't about him, it's about you. You strut around talking about you really give a shit about this sport, it's safety, the new jumpers, but you talk more trash than anyone else I've met. Other's just ain't doing that.

And how huge is that ego of your for you to be seeing some sort of conspiracy in another website?

I've got no stake in this, I'm not defending my ego, or anyone elses, I'm just telling it like I see it.

You're a cunt. Maybe you shouldn't have been a dick at BD.

WHAT? I mean this isn't the flatbed 5 talking yet. If it were up to them we'd be driving a pickup under the bridge and straight to the road. Please, let's plan an event where we change the canyon to suit us better. Seriously phuck off. They let us jump, and it still isn't enough....is it? We can't just be happy having a legal object. Just for that I'm removing the P.O.S. box spring that someone put down there.
Cheers,
Thomas

don't say it.....don't say it....don't say it....Maybe Avery can get a permit for this?

Good grief Johnny. Why the fuck do you have to bring up Tom Aiello all the time? What in the hell does he have to do with this conversation? Not a damned thing. You make yourself sound like an idiot.

Next thing you know, you're going to get fired up again at Avery for selling a video that you edited specifically for Ill Vision. You love to bring that one up for no good reason too.

You need to learn how to let go. Harboring evil feelings is not healthy.

I'm not harboring evil feelings.

I'm hoping we can get back to normal with the plank situation and yea it relates because it's about not acting like we own the bridge.

edit to add:
the conversation about planks continues in this thread:

Anyone seen my box of junior mints? I just had them, I set them down on my chair when I went to the bathroom and now I can't find them. Oh, and the Coke Zero dispenser isn't working, ran out, so I switched to Dr. Pepper.

That would be rad if you and other's helped. I don't know how near in the future the reality is of the Canyon Stairs that Tree mentioned. The trail would be for everyone, like the stairs, not just us. Tree and I will talk to some local officials and see what the word is.

Sweet, we have a quite a few coming out this weekend plus its the DZ season opener. Every jump ticket to 10.5 comes with a free bridge jump ticket this weekend! wingsuiting and crw at the dz, then throwing mcconkeys at the bridge. this will be a good weekend.

I'm all game for coming out and putting in some man hours to work on a proper path to the top (bottom for the spectators) so that the environmental/erosion impact can be minimal in the canyon. Between last fall and this spring (before the hail-storm) the trail was already looking pretty worse for the wear.

Abbie/Tree, let me know what I can do. You know I keep an odd schedule but I'll cheerfully pitch in to keep that canyon beautiful.

Hope the boss man might let me head that way last week of May. I am in to help if I can get there, I will toss in the first donation if the city says we are ok to spruce up the trail.
