A few details, I live in the south, I would rather quality over cost unless it is just throwing money away. I have contacted tom about his course at potato. It seems nice that is is in all one location. I dont have gear yet. Thanks

hey brother,
I highly recommend Johnny Utah's BASE Camp. I went and did my first Jumps with Johnny in May of '04, I had a blast. Johnny called me, and checked out my references, then agreed to take me out. he sent me a packing video that he made which helped me feel confident in my ability to pack, and let me get in some practice before I got out there so I could concentrate on the jumps. He also sent a video showing the different malfunctions that can occur, which we would later watch while he explained why each can occur, how to prevent them, and what to do if one occurs. I really liked that his course was a week long, instead of just a weekend, and it was much less expensive than the other courses, he also has really nice gear to use if you don't have your own by then (he'll also get you a good deal on gear).
Johnny is a great teacher, Fun, thorough, I could tell he really cared about our safety. I talk to Johnny often, he's a great jumper, and a really good guy.
Check out his website!

Have fun, Don't die!

Is he in Cali or Moab, and do the jumps take place at the P bridge?

I can recommend Tom's course. I took his Spring Death Camp in May. It was great. You can read a couple reviews on it here:

Also read reviews of other courses here:

Potato is a good place to start, to say the least.
Usual disclaimer... Read all you can, find a mentor, talk about it with family, etc :)
Good luck
