Anything more on the Italian fatality a couple of weeks ago at Arco?
How come when Erin went in there was so much fuss in the media, etc., and then we hear nothing about this one?:+

A post about the latest Italian fatality at the big legal Italian wall was posted few days after the event by Frog (look in the Base Board archives).
Then.
Dear Skypuppy, what do you mean by "...when Erin went in there was so much fuss in the media, etc., and then we hear nothing about this one?"?!?!?!?
Which media are you talking about?!?!?!? American media?!?!? Italian media?!?!?
For sure, both the fatalities of Erin and of the Italian jumper were very well covered and talked about by Italian media (local newspapers, with an open letter by a psycologist stating that we are all crazy and have a hidden death wish and so on... (and TV also, I have been told...)).
About poor Erin it was written a lot in the Base Board because she was American and the Base Board is visited and posted 90% by Americans, much less by Europeans, furthermore, the poor Italian chap that passed the way (my sincere condolescences to his family and friends) was not known by our community (very few regular BASE jumpers here in Italy, indeed) and so it happened that only Frog posted something about the event but only as a reply to somebody asking for information.
I honestly do not know how much and how an American media could and/or would report a BASE fatality happened in Italy...
I would have some more details about the event, but because the things I know about it are coming by a post by BASE jumper mates (Internet contact only, but still they are mates... ...European BASE jumpers, anyway) that saw him on the way up, and so nothing is yet official, for respect to poor chap, I prefer not to disclose particulars until when they will become officially available.
Stay safe out there

The media I'm talking about are local and Toronto papers in Canada, and I think tv and radio. I do know a lot of whuffos were coming up to me and mentioning hearing about it.
As for the latest fatality, I read the original posts, it was the particulars I was interested in (as I'm sure a lot of others are). If/when an official report comes out I just hope we'll know so we can access the information.
Question: Who releases the official report, the police, or someone who knows BASE jumping?:+

Again.
I do not see how and why local newspapers and TV in Canada or USA would report a BASE fatality happened in Italy...
Anyway.
About the latest fatality here in Italy.
When somebody passes the way here in Italy by non-natural death, automatically the authorities (the law, by the way, the judge, you know) open up a file and give the job to the police to investigate. They will release the final verdict about how things went. As far as I know, the police still hold locked the equipment in order to be inspected by an expert (Tracy?!?!?!?) that sooner or later will pop up and help them. In these cases, once the police has come out with the final verdict about the happening, local Italian newspapers will write about it.
Once there will be something official, I shall post it. There are only rumors (=experience) about the poor chap who went in, but while skydiving experience can be easily verified, BASE experience is hard to be proved and shown. Ands as we all know, you cannot take the extra-experience in skydiving and put it straightforwardly into BASE experience. So, for the moment they remain rumors, and I do not like to post worldwide rumors. I hope you understand.
Stay safe out there
