Wondering about static line jumps with a pin rig? Any thoughts about where to tie BREAK CORD?:

Through the bridle like every other break cord jump perhaps? :7

Well, a lot of people static line without a bridle or pilot chute direct to the shrivel flap so it was a valid question.

And when the breakcord breaks prematurely on exit or you slip while hanging on to a gnarly 200 ft you do what exactly?

S#/T?............................:o....Oh, yeah...then if you're lucky ya die.....(as opposed to bein' maimed and confined to eating food thru a straw for the rest of your so-called miserable life!)...."keep a LOW profile".........Vic

...i guess a bridle and pilot chute are just too much baggage to be draggin' to the exit...i mean, i know they're heavy and difficult to lug around and all, but...................... :-(

I didn't say I did it that way, I'll never SL without a PC having had a SL failure. I just said some people do (some VERY experienced jumpers) and that's their choice.

Can't somebody ask a simple question and get a helpful answer without the smartass remarks?? This is why I don't ask questions on here. As a newbie, I thought it was a valid question, and I was looking forward to learning something. How about some PEACE people!!

I've always just attached to the PC end of the bridle so I'm afraid I can't offer any experience of no PC/Bridle SL techniques. I agree with you though, you should be able to ask questions here without fear of getting flamed.

...i think ya may have taken the comments i made a little too personally...they were not directed at you in particular, but more as a generalized "flaming" as you called it...i personally feel that there is no sense in sl'ing w/out a pc...i do not see any advantage to not using one, rather only negatives...to me that pc is kinda like a cheap but hefty life insurance policy; hopefully not "needed", but if something were to not go as planned, it will be there to hopefully save your a$$...after all, in this of all sports, are we not better off safe than sorry?...just my low time opinions...if anyone feels that i am deserving of a "flaming", or can enlighten me to something that i may be missing here.......flame away!.........keep a LOW profile...........Vic

...furthermore (like that big word?) on a jump where altitude is at such a minimum that a pc wouldn't help anyway, i'd rather trust my a$$ to a pca than to trust a piece of break cord...as stated earlier...just my low time opinion..............Vic

Spence,
Just curious but have you ever had a premature break with your system? And in the attempt not to sound like an a$$hole do you think that the pc on the 5-6 ft of rope is outside of your burble and is effective at such a low airspeed. I know the 9ft bridle is there to ensure you clear the burble but what is the theorized area above you where the burble exists. But I supose that if you exit in a good stand-up position, and stay that way for most of the freefall your burble is smaller than in a belly to earth position. As for pin rigs with S/L it seems like a good idea since there is less pull force needed as opposed to good velcro(I have no experience w/pin rigs just my .02). Any thoughts?
Oh ##### late for a final. Cya
