There is, or was, a really good deal on an altimeter watch at rei-outlet.com. For $89 I recieved a Freestyle Altimeter watch and I have tested it several times. It is an instant reading and it reads every 3 feet instead of 20 like some other brands. I have even tried it out on a skydive or two and it is really accurate. The brand is Freestyle and the watch is Altimeter.

Yo !
Thanks for a great tip - my Avocet watch just died from all the abuse and old age ;-) Do you know how frequently Freestyle takes the reading on altitude ? Avocet refresh rate was 1 sec, while Casios are really sloooow...

The reading is immediate. I was supprised to see how quickly it read. Ask Bill B. or Keith J. I think the got a good look at it up to altitude. I really like the watch and it is a lot cheaper in price than the Sunato.

I have tried both the Casio Pathfinder and the Sunto Vector... It is no comparison - spend the extra $50.00 bucks and get the Vector! Much easier to read and more accurate. Check out Jason Bell's page there is some excellent watch info. http://www.321cya.com/21watch.html

Yo !
Thanks again for a great tip! Got my Freestyle watch and so far i'm very happy with it. It does read altitude every second, and both altitude and a stopwatch are on the same screen - which is particularily handy when flying a wingsuit. I highly recommend it, especially at this price!
