Hey:
Anybody know anything about slider aspect ratio?
Is a higher (more rectangular) or lower (more square) aspect ratio slider more likely to cause off headings?
Any other considerations when looking at a BASE slider?
Thanks for any help.

Hi Tom -
BASE 460 started a good discussion on this subject about 2 years ago...I'm not very knowledgable in this area and I'm not sure if it's in the archives...
I know Adam Filippino at CR has some good input in this area...maybe he'll post something here or you could give him a call at the shop.

The black art of slider sizing...
not sure about the aspect ratio. i do know you can get
terribly squirrly openings if the width is too small.
my fox had this problem. terrible openings. maybe 4 or
5 jumps with line twists despite level shoulders. fixed the
problem by going to a Raven 4 sized slider made out of
mesh.
if the width is too low, you may possibly have a slider
stay up. the slider is driven down primarily by the break lines
as the canopy expands. if the angle between the break
lines and the slider is to slim, less downward force.
Too slow of a slider descent will cause the canopy to
(generally manageably) turn during a slower inflation.
i did try a trapezoidal slider, with the rear narrower
than the front. but's that another story.
hope this helps -- Chris
