View Full Version : Small mesh or Regular mesh... That is the question ;)...

Ok... I figure since I'm posting questions today, I might as well post my second question as well :)...

My question kind of ties into my last question about how many skydive jumps before BASE'ing a wing suit...

Here's my challenge...

I have a cliff that I jump (without a wing suit) on a regular basis that has a sheer 1000ft drop to a buttress that is approximately 150ft long. But if you can pass that buttress the cliff opens up to another sheer drop of 1500ft. So all in all, if you can pass the buttress, you have a 2,500ft jump...

So now that I think of it, I have two questions...

First, should I use a regular mesh slider just in case I can't out fly the buttress because I'm an inexperienced wing suit flyer? So my thoughts are to take the smacker the first time but gaining a little more safty…

Second question… Is a 1000ft enough height, for an inexperienced wing suit flyer, to out fly a 150ft-200ft buttress???

FYI… I have already made it half way to more than half way in a freefly suit…

Again thanks for you help…

Hi again all…

I guess the cool thing about BASE jumping is that you eventually answer you own questions from your own personal experience. I was lucky enough to do just that this weekend by making my first BASE wing suit jump. Awesome experience by the way :)…

Anyways I used a 38” pc with a big mesh slider. So to answer my own question, I had a brisk opening with the big mesh slider but not so brisk that I would want to switch to my small mesh slider. Not to mention, I had an awesome on heading opening. So all in all, from my whopping one BASE wing suit jump, I liked using the big mesh slider :)…

Take care all :)…

The question is: Did you make past the ledge?
