I don't know Dwain as well as some, I'm just a kid that learned to skydive in outside of portland OR, and made a few base jumps on a 'SoftCock' off the idaho bridge. When I first saw Dwain he came into our DZ on easter sunday with DJ - what a pair- I knew they where diffrent - two very cool, very badass dudes - I only had 30 something jumps at the time, but Dwain, Ray and DJ took me out to a radio tower that night as groundcrew!! I'll never forget being too young to buy beer holding on to this cold steel scared as I had ever been on a skydive just being 400 feet up in tower watching Dwain open up right before me (he climbed to the top a few hundred feet higher)...what i love about him the most was his disipline - not a 'yahoo' but a true spiritual jumper with a percision and care...After I watched Dwain hop a local E and me and another kid got in the car to pick him up
I told Dwain " [Basejumping] is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen" Dwain said: "it can also be the most ugly" - Dwain is beautiful - a true lover of life - I felt he loved ever moment just a little bit more than everyone else, I found in his eyes a true since of humble awh for nature and life - he was full of wonder - I watched him do flips with a broken arm, he and Nik just glowed, i thought those two would never die jumping or otherwise - they just seemed like myths - I'm not that into basketball or stuff like that so Nik and Dwain were my Jordan's and Ali's...One thing Nik said that I remeber everyday (Nik, standing on rail :"DJ..DJ... It's all about the love,, isn't it ? It's all about the love" - I love Dwain and Nik- they inspire me and their memory fills me with joy...Karen I wish you light and beauty ...Ray, Zazzz and DJ thank you for the gift of base and the kindness you have shown me ....

"You moss tosser, You softcock, just jump mate!" - Dwain
