finally, after 117 jumps, i got my "B"!

a wonderful night, close to NO wind, and even traffic seemed to stop the moment we climbed over the rail (hell, traffic never stopped when we checked it out three times!). at 04:02 local time, my count went to c-ya and little later, i landed safely some 35 floors below. :P

now that i can apply for my base number, i want to thank:

-matt for my #1 (S) (big ole green in YOUKNOWWHERE)
-gardner for a red and white one (A) in what was probably the darkest night i ever jumped in
-hannes and tracy for the big overhung one in the country of our fast-speaking southern friends (C) with the nice cappuchino afterwards
and last, but definitely not least
-nobbi for the "B" on sunday morning and convincing me that the conditions would never get better (i was a little nervous because - NO, NOT BECAUSE OF THE JUMP! - because i had been stopped on my way to the object by an unmarked police x( car for a blood alcohol test which i passed with 0.0)

glad to have jumped my "firsts" with you guys! :)

with love from germany,
flummi

P.S.: For information purposes (for my fellow German jumpers): All of my equipment is dark (blue, black, grey). I do not jump (or own) a white rig. And I DID NOT jump at 11am.

Nice one, my friend!

But, did you hook your canopy on anything (a tree, a phone line, anything) on landing? I think it's safe to say that B's are more fun when you do that.

Congratulations!

well, tom, you see, ... hmm ... how to put it?

yes, the two jumps you are referring to were valuable lessons for me...

especially the one with the tree for that i now know what the cutaway handle on a baserig is for after i saw you dangling with your feet one meter above the ground. :) still, i have decided i am a coward and landed away from the trees...

and the power(/phone)-line thing: well, still being a big whiner i checked the landing three times before the night we jumped, including at day and found out all the lines hanging around... and even if i cannot deny the show-effect of the canopy going over the line and you going under the line and you two coming together like a pocket-knife, ripping the line off its attachments ;-) - i guess i'm just not cool enough for it.

i remember both nights well, and the lessons i learned - it was great fun! :)

I DID actually get myself and the equipment quite dirty from a muddy landing area...:P does that count, too?

As someone who stood on the edge of a local B with you nearly 2 years ago only to have to walk down due to winds, congratu-freakin-lations!

hi ogg,

i still do remember that "local B". you would not believe it, but just yesterday morning at around 01:30am i told the story of the two of us standing at THAT edge to a fellow jumper and our ground crew after a successful 1000ft jump off a smokestack. i still remember the black lines running together in that one point on the ground - awesome view! - even if we did not jump. this is one of the walk-aways that i will remember forever...

looking forward to standing on the same edge as you again - any plans on coming to good ol' europe?

c-ya,
flummi
