Hello there!
This is an "open" post to enquire "something" to anybody capable to answer me, but I think it can also have a real interest also for other fellow jumpers.
I got a personal invitation to an IPBC BASE event to be held in KL (Kuala Lumpur) but I cannot partecipate, mainly because of lack of both vacation time unavailable (on such a short notice...) and money (the biggest issue!!! ;( ).
So my question is: what are the minumum costs to be beared by anybody partecipating to a BASE event held in KL?
I make a list of main costs I can think of:
1) flight ticket (from USA, just to have an idea)
2) hotel room (is it "mandatory" to stay in a particular hotel? dayrate of room? meals? other "accomodation related"?)
3) personal safety/liability insurance for the BASE event (US insurance company / UK insurance company / local insurance company / other insurance company)
4) "competition"/"event partecipation" fee
5) other (=other minimum "unavoidable" associated costs)
Thansk for the answers!!! This is just to have an idea about the costs of joining a BASE event to be held in Malaysia! Just to have an idea of what are the minimum costs to be beared by a jumper to join such an event (granted that in any case I would join such an event on a personal basis, relying only on my very personal wallet!).

The numbers you are looking for, in my experience, will vary greatly. For the December comp, Skyventure secured pretty damn good airline deals for the participants (~US 600), plus the entry fee for the comp (~US 550-700) which included 10-11 nights stay in a 4 star hotel and 2 meals a day (not to mention access to big friggin buildings). Add dinners, alcohol, "massages" and misc other stuff and you'll get out and back for around US 1500, depending on how much you drink and how "sore" your muscles are (I'm sure Iiro's cost was considerably more in these areas).
This is only my experience...FWIW.

Thanks so much for answering! That's exactly what I was looking for!
Another question: what about the personal safety/liability insurance? I read somewhere this was a mandatory issue, without which you cannot partecipate the event.
Any idea of the cost of a personal safety/liability insurance policy? For: just the event/one week/one month/longer?

>(I'm sure Iiro's cost was
>considerably more in these areas).

Plus, there's his cost of replacing the lightbulbs he eats :7

Seriously, he eats lightbulbs. . . must be seen to be believed.

I swear lightbulbs have to have the least QC in all of manufacturing business. I need to start buying them by the pallet at the rate they burn out. I'm switching to candlelight. screw this.

I need to clarify some expences which have been mentioned on this site:

Flights Hel-KL-To-KL-Hel 2400 USd

Participation Fee 450 USd

Misc. costs, such as FOOT-massage and water 4000 USd

JJ's low-pull at the KL-tower PRICELESS!!!!!!

Party on!!!

It's not eating the lightbulbs, but s"¤tting them the next day. OUCH!!!
