The inspection of Lukas Knutsson base gear was performed buy me (PerFlare) and Mikael Nordqvist.
The bridle was rapped around the PC about 5 centimetres (2 inches) under the hackey sack. The way the bridle was rapped around the PC made the bridle attachment point to stay next to the hackey sack. This made the center line inside of the PC to stay folded (one fold) and this made it impossible for the PC to inflate.
This is unanimous with what I saw that day.
Our conclusion is,
- Do not use hackey sacks on base pilot chutes.
- Do not “flare” your wingsuit prior to deployment.
- Pull hard, as hard as possible without loosing heading and body symmetry.
- Collapse your wings if possible to minimize the burble.
Remember, even if you do this and do everything right you always run the risk of die while basejumping. Nobody have total control over all the variables involved. The feeling of being in control is an illusion. When you are basejumping you are rolling the dice … and the house always wins.
