Thanks for tearing down the information I posted here showing that Robin Heid is now working to shut down access to legal jumping in Twin Falls.

I'm not sure what I did in that post to call out the censorship police, but I'll happily repost it again and again and again. Then, we can see which of us gets tired of our chosen tasks - me: posting critical information for the BASE community; you: deleting this information.

I can be pretty goddamned persistent, so I suppose this is going to be a long a drawn out thing. I can also easily show up here from one of 100 different IP addresses, if need be.

Sometimes, your actions move beyond mystifying into downright idiotic. What happened? Did poor 'ole Robin Heid call you and whine in your ear? Boo hoo! Truth fu(cking HURTS!

Is Robin really trying to shut down legal jumping in Twin Falls? &-)

Thanks Mick! I don't know anyone else who would be willing to take on the thankless task of administering a discussion board for as diverse, opinionated and ornery a crowd as us BASE jumpers. Sometimes you make decisions that people (myself included) don't agree with. But I still respect your decisions, and thank you for all the time and effort you put into this board.

Come on, Doug, give Mick a break. Playing the grown up to all our squabbles is a pretty difficult task. If he doesn't want you posting that info on his board, just email it out to everyone who's address you have. The information will circulate nearly as quickly that way.

if you get tired of the censorship here, you could always post on basejump.org's forum or a massive underground group list, which we all find our most useful information through anyway.

Dog, your quickly becoming as bad as Robin ever was. Give it up!!! Why are you so obsessed with Robin Heid? Who gives a crap! Take it up with him!
For the love of god, if you can't stop, then take a hike Fatty!

And thank you Mick for providing this website! I'm sorry that you have to put up with deranged, paranoid people like D-dog.

Sorry everyone for being so harsh myself: it's been a bad day. I just climbed my local A only to get winded out, come home without a jump, get on the board, and have to read more from the paranoid squad. Maybe tomorrow night's mission will be better.

You obviously know nothing about Robin Heid. Get a clue.

"Those who do not learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them."

Robin isn't evil, but he's so fu*ked up, there's no discernible difference in the outcome of his actions. (Which statement should identify me to at least several of the posters on this board.)

The reason he has continued over the years to do the damage he does is because of attitudes precisely like yours. It is the common lazy perspective amongst skydivers, and I see it has now infected BASE.

That is more than unfortunate.

"All that is required for the triumph of evil is the silence of one good man."

Robin has already hurt many people. How many more do you wish to allow him to harm before he is stopped?

Is it deranged and paranoid to understand that a leopard doesn't change his spots?

I suggest you talk to some people who have known Robin since perhaps the time you were in diapers before you make this kind of judgment.

[sigh] Whatever happened to tar and feathers?

<sarcasm>

Yeah, that's the problem with people today. Everyone's too lazy to organize a good ol' fashioned Witch Hunt.

Let's tie him to some rocks, throw him in the water, and see if he floats, just like they used to do! If that won't make the world a better place, I don't know what will!

</sarcasm>

You offer quotes and cliches to back up your love for Robin, but your love isn't what's at issue here.

If you want to tar & feather Robin, then stop talking, and start warming up the tar. Otherwise, get over it.

perhaps you folks just use the phrase, "warm up some tar," as a sort of metaphor - but I want to make it clear that the tar we used was pourable at room temperature. Solvent-thinned, in other words.

This place has gotten nearly as bad as wreck.skydiving. jebus kreist.

Hey while I'm at it I have a question: what would you pay for exclusive rights to the use of the John Vincent Tarring and Feathering Video?

until later,

I received email from Mick late last night, in which he indicated that his deletion of my original post on this subject was unintentional (and, I believe, done based on misinformation provided by none other than Robin Heid). I thank Mick for taking time out of his busy day to deal with this crap. We all have better things to do with our time.

Why do I care, and why am I posting this information? Because I have nothing better to do? No, I have lots of things better to do.

Rather, because Heid's actions are directly threatening legal access to one of the most important objects in the USA. While I am not some Perrine groupie who jumps there exclusively (I've only been there twice), even I can see that its legal status is having a big (almost always positive) impact on American BASE.

The BASE community NEEDS to know what is being done by Heid quietly, behind the veil of anonymous posts and anonymous phone calls. We need to know this so that we can take concrete, specific tasks to counter these actions. If we do not, the Perrine could be lost to all of us as a legal object - and to future BASE jumpers who would rightly look at us "old timers" and think "why the hell did they let that petty little ##### Heid screw our access to the Perrine and do nothing about it?"

Mick is taking yet more time out of his day to look for my original post. If he can't find it, I'll happily re-write it. Folks can read it or not read it, care or not care. That is an individual decision - I believe that there are plenty of folks who care enough about BASE and the Perrine to deal with yet another Heid-induced incident.

This brings me no joy, particularly because Heid's latest gambit is to use the death of a fellow jumper to fuel his ego-games. I am sure I am not the only jumper who is disgusted and deeply angered by this.

Peace,

good to hear that it was unintentional. I'm sure Mick will do his best to find your original post if he says that he will.

I am sure I

I think most of the BASE community feels that way

Doug,

I owe you an apology. Last night I was extremely tired and ticked because of another winded night out.

I just took a hard look at several things of late and realized that I was wrong. After reevaluating several different things, I've now come to the conclusion that your statement about Robin are right on the mark.

How many of you have read Robin's latest and greatest in Skydiving?

He self-appointed himself as the ambassador of BASE and went to ALL of the authorities in Twin Falls and questioned them on OUR OWN perceived problems. I distinctly remember one of hte officials saying "I wasn't aware that there was any problems with jumpers"

Thank you so much Robin Heid for making all of them aware of MINOR problems within our own jumping community THAT WE COULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF OURSELVES.

Robin, you disgust me with your behavior and your antics. Why don't yo uthink before opening your mouth?

Doug, do you have an email address for Robin Heid? I'd like to email him myself and tell him how I feel.

I'm also going to write out a well-thought out letter to Skydiving Magazine that will highlight Robin's inaccuracies and prejudices. Now that I've seen the light, I'm sick of his crap too.

And Doug, once again, my apologies.

Just out of curiosity, what is the full story with Robin and TF? Is he maliciously trying to get the place closed? Is he wanting info he doesn't need (about Brian's death) and risking the legality of TF in his efforts to get it?

I'm not making excuses for Robin, but it would seem odd that he would spearhead a campaign to shut down TF. He has no ties to TF. It seems that Robin's past attacks have been based on him feeling screwed over, used or cheated. (I'm not saying he was screwed over, cheated or used - just that he believes he was).

I dunno, maybe he just likes the thrill of scandal...
