just this week, our favorite local tower got a whole bunch of new ,scary signs posted all around the perimeter. they start, WARNING! VIDEO SURVALENCE IN PROGRESS. and so on BLAHH BLAHH BLAHH. they are brand new and to our knowledge, no one has been seen jumping this structure. all though we don't actually see any cameras, one can never be to sure. my question is, has anyone else got any new signs at their local A as part of a national anti terrorist security thing, or is this just something at this one individual tower.
thanks. and don't forget,
SMILE, YOUR'E ON CANDID CAMERA:-(

I know of one site that has 4 fake camera housings mounted on the fence posts at the corners as a scare tactic. It doesn't make sense that someone is going to pore over hours of video every day to catch a tresspasser at a radio tower. Motion detectors are the more logical choice for security on these towers, not continuous video surveillance.

...as in motion detectors to START a camera recording??...that would kinda suck...

I've talked to a couple of tower guys about video surveillance.

According to them, the general pattern is:

Cameras tape a continuous loop 24-48 hours long.

Tapes are only reviewed if there is noticeable trespassing, damage to the structure, police are called, etc.

Otherwise, the tape just rolls back over itself within a few days.

I think the idea of the cameras is to provide documentary evidence to be used in court, rather than to provide an intrusion alert system.

thanks to everyone for the input. a few brave souls called their bluff last night and everything went off without a hitch. I guess we'll take extra precautions to not leave any trace of people out enjoying their life, liberty and the persuit of happiness
thanks again:P

Yea, we checked all around last night and didn't see any other evidence of cameras, could be that with the "other stuff" nearby, they are trying to keep people away from the tower....other than the new signs, it was another beautiful night in CANDY LAND!!!! Thanks guys, cya!!!!!!!!! bw:7

I think you are right about that. There are more than a few towers down here that have cameras on them. We have been in front of them a few times and we are convinced that they only look at it if something is out of place.
Now, we just bypass the areas with cameras and leave everything exactly how we found it. Simple enough.

...as was stated in previous posts, everythin' seems to be status-quo...the tower in question was jumped again tonight w/out a problem...seems they just felt a need to add a little sign action to give us all somethin' to think about...thanx goes out once again to my accomplice...'twas a pleasure as always.......;-)
