Hey folks, gear question.
Obviously, slider down openings are harder on your canopy than slider up. I was wondering what experiences have people had with canopy life / damage / failures (!!??) that they felt were directly attributable to a lot of 2-3 second delay slider down jumping? As of now I have like 6 slider down jumps on me Mojo, so of course I'm not worried as of yet. But I'm wondering what the general feeling is about when do you start saying, "My canopy is cool, but mainly for slider up stuff." Or do you? Thanks.

provided you dont exceed three seconds on your delay youre fine. examine your canopy after each jump to insure its integrity; lines, connectors, canopy, attachment points. have your canopy examined by a competent base manufacturer periodically. when you get like 600 jumps on it sell it to a skydiver and get a new one. They tell you three seconds to protect the canopy from damage its not designed to take repeatedly, and, more importantly, to protect you from needing replacing...if you dont exceed 3 seconds your canopy is happy doing what it is well designed to take.dont worry, go enjoy cya

It's probably never cool to jump a canopy that's, "only okay for slider_up," but, we all do it from time to time.

Sometimes, an older canopy is alright, because it opens slower, allowing (maybe) a longer slider down pop than you'd *care-for* using a newer wing.

Maybe . . .

BTW, by the time you wear out your Mojo (TM), FOX (TM) DRAGON (TM) you'll be able to say, "Yeech, I'm not jumping that anymore. . ."
