IT`S OKAY!!!!!
In my estimation, over 200 million people have seen my student Felix perform outstanding hardcore access and hardcore BASE jumps professionally, he has pushed this (our) sport into the limelite, Even I have given him crap about burning sites, not wearing a Helm, and his Ego...., but his professionalism perserveres, the only people who have done more than Felix for the sport in the last 10 yrs are the BASE gear Manufacturers, KUDOS!!! and as a sponsored jumper....No one come close to his success in promoting not only his sponsor, but the fact that sponsorship for BASE is not only possible, but profitable.....,
To the SA Jumpers; Though I respect you, you named your sites publicly, someone, (apparently a geek) was a cliffhanger,
you were warned about naming sites.... Nuff!!
Felix hung on nothing, only did things in a professional manner, and you donīt want him in your country....so is this to say that geeks are welcome and profis not? Did Felix burn some legal sites by being rescued? You guys said BASE was not Illegal in you country, And I personally think Felix was Extremely inconsiderate to say that it was....So what did he burn? And how?
reply to me personally or in the forum as you wish.
John, Iīve been trying to contact you since we were in Brasil, so has many others. please contact me via email....

Hello Space

The guy that got hung up was a German and not one of us, because as Felix they also thought they knew the right exit point!

Yes, I would anytime invite cliffhanger back. Remember when you e-mailed me and asked me if I would take Felix around and show him some of our sites? My answer was YES! Once again Felix was to good to contact me himself, and after giving you all my contact numbers, Felix just rocked up and jump off one of our buildings for the local TV station. If you judge that as the way we should behave, so be it, then I would rather play chess with you than talk about BASE jumping.

Space there are a lot of professional BASE jumpers out there that do a lot more for the sport, than Felix! He does it for himself.
Cheers John

Yes there are some things I do respect about Felix. I do respect that he has gotten sponsorship and is earning a living doing what he likes to do. And I do respect that he has done some nice jumps, but I do not agree that he has done more for the sport than anyone -- no way!

Just because a guy runs around illegally jumping off of objects during the day and calls the news every time he does it, does not mean that he is doing miracles for BASE.

He is doing nothing more than many others before him have done.

And what about people like Carl Boenish or Tom Sanders with his amazing film projects depicting BASE in a professional way. There are others to who have worked so hard to establish a professional image for our sport. Will Oxx, Moe Viletto, Dave Barlia, etc....

What about these people??

It is not the number of people that view a BASE jump, it is the image you portray that matters.

Portraying a legal, professional image to 10 million people does alot more for our sport than an illegal, renegade image to 200 million people.

Hi John,
since your email doesnīt work, and you wonīt contact me via email,
as I have requested. Youīve left me no choice other than to post this.
I apologize to the BASE community for me publishing an uneducational
post in personal conflicts. I want you (John) to know that Iīm in agreement with you on
most things.

It seems that your ego has caused you to misinterpret my "Itīs Okay" post. (509/shtml)
The "Itīs Okay" part I posted clearly states that," itīs okay to push it in the publics face (200million) in a
professional manner. I do not now, nor will I ever condone the burning of someones sites. Yes, I, unlike Felix and some others in the BASE world, do believe in an ethical ownership of base sites.

> The guy that got hung up was a German and not one of
> us, because as Felix they also thought they knew the
> right exit point! > Yes, I would anytime invite cliffhanger back.
But didnīt he do the same as Felix? Didnīt play by the
localīs rule? AND he had to be rescued? What made the
difference in your reaction to the 2 scenarios?
Only your Ego. (check c:\\:File/John/ego/instincts/terratoriality). Understandable, but letīs deal with logic here. which by nature is, logical.
> Remember when you e-mailed me and asked me if I

>sites? My answer was YES! Once again Felix was too
>good to contact me himself, and after giving you all
>my contact numbers, Felix just rocked up and jump off
>one of our buildings for the local TV station.

As far as I know, correct me if Iīm wrong;
The building was;
A. NBJ (never been jumped)
B. He made it an ABJ somewhere between 8-11months ago.
C. No SA BASE jumper publicly denounced this building jump until Felix appeared on
SA TV very recently, doing a skydiving stunt , which according to the general consensus of BASErs has very little to do with BASE.
Felix, unfortunately for the Terratoriality BASErs world, has not only the ability to find exit points, but the
resources (redbull). He is a very good student in most aspects except, contact the locals, helmet and ego
(which he also agrees with in the latest issue of Skydiving Mag).

He told me at that time that he had lost your
number,after he jumped the building......
He also TVīd a building in Frankfurt that was an
unknown nite site (illegal in Germany)for the clique
there. The second thing I did (giving him crap was
first) was to contact the locals there as the show was
to air the footage later that week, They were
Understandably pissed-off as was I.

I come from the old school of BASE, Contact the locals
and play by their rules... Felix doesnīt agree with
it. What can one do about it, one can complain about
it, one can try to discredit him, Or one can use him
and his resources to oneīs benefit...which would be
more positive/advantageous,,,,,,
Hi-profile publicized BASErs always piss off the most
of us whether they burned sites or not just because of
the ego thingy. Try to accept this and get on with
life. Or better yet, take advantage of it...Then, you
will be the winner! Let him push you guys to make
certain that there are no more NBJīs for him to claim,
have video proof so that when he claims heīs first that you can prove heīs not.
And, if you do that, the worst thing about it is that, itīs okay..

> If you judge that as the way we should behave,
> so be it,
I hope you can see that I donīt agree with it.

> then I would rather play chess with you than talk
>about BASE jumping.
Let us do both but vice versa, Letīs play BASE and
talk about chess..

As I said in my post, Gear manufacturers, Inclusive in
this is their instructors.

This is where I disagree with you. He does it for his
sponsor and himself.
