I was doing ground video when my co-conspiritor got taken down by security (literally) in the street after a building jump. The cops took his gear and gave a ticket (?) for disorderly conduct.
Anyone had experience in this? Chance to beat the rap?

Hey dude,
You have to take the lumps (literally) with the good in this sport. Sounds like you need to learn the 6 P's.

Don't take this as a flame, but when BASE jumping,,, You need to have a plan. The guard should have been the least of your worries. Personally I would be embarrased if a security guard caught me after a jump. http://www.baselogic.com/forum/images/happy.gif
Many happy landings,

On a public street? What was the crime? Being in the street with a parachute? Sounds like the rent-a-pig committed an assault to me. . .
Yeah, he assumed your bud jumped off his building and had previously been trespassing. But without actually witnessing the commission of a felony and being in hot pursuit, or being caught in the commission of a crime or at least trespassing on private property, what justified the assault by the guard in a public place?

In most states a private citizen( Security Guard) needs Probable cause to make a citizens arrest( When they hold you for some kind of crime)If the guard did not see the incident(jump) he did not have probable cause to make the arrest..
Someone else could of jumped and you were holding the rig for him, get my drift..UNLESS, something what said to the police when they showed up..if that happened then pay your fine and move to another object..thats my 2 cents worth if that helps you..
good luck.Crash out.
