Greetings all.
Just wanted post a quick mini survey of people who have ever been busted by Johnny Law. What fines and/or penalties have been incurred and on what type of object? Gear confiscation? Community Service? Jail time?
Please include as much information as possible, such as charges, court appearances, and outcomes. I'm not interested in everybody's personal history, but I would like to know just what could happen...so post anonymously if you like.
Please try to keep the 2nd hand info. and hear-say to a minumum. I'm just interested in facts.
Thanks in advance.

Every time I drive by that big B and drool, I think of your maniacal jump and smile. Nobody can say you took the easy way on that one!
Peace,

Ya I was stupid and lucky, but as a number of people have pointed out on the board, sometimes are illadvised escapades can have far reaching effects not only for the BASE community but normal friends too.
I wonder in the cosmic space time particle wave way, how much of a harbinger that leap off the B was for the untimely death of one of your future friends?
Would the crazy dude have been just as happy in a psylly sort of way...
Batter up

OK, someone got the license number of the getaway vehicle after a jump from a highway bridge. The driver had had some recent legal difficulties and was threatened with some rather severe sanctions. The other jumper and I turned ourselves into the state police (who, btw, appreciated our loyalty to our friend). In the end we were given a non-traffic citation for disorderly conduct for "creating a hazardous condition by parachuting from the -------- bridge." In the end the fines and court cost were $225. We were also admonished by the policeman to never be caught there again. They let the getaway driver go without further legal consequences.

Tall building in Seattle
Criminal tresspassing, reckless endagerment of the public.
Had to promise never to go in the buidling again.
Replace broken windows---5000$
Attorney's fees, small fines, court costs---2000$
Hospital Bill---Priceless
Cops arrested me after getting out of the ICU.
The detective was a cute chic who thought I was pretty stupid but had big balls.

Busted on 2 "B" jumps.
One was a "damage to real property charge". They said that we damaged the door to get to the exit point which was not true. When we got into court our lawyer told them that our video (that they had confiscated) had proof that we didn't damage the door. They ended up backing down and dropping all the charges. We were told to not come back. We got all of our gear back minus a still camera and a couple of swiss army knives. Lawyer cost $400-$500 split between 2 of us.
The other one was in Mexico. They were not quite sure what to do with me. To make a long story short... After 4 hours in a mexican jail the American consulate convinced the hotel to not press any charges and let to me go. It did get a bit touchy when they brought up the whole "terrorist" thing though. It was about a month after 9/11. :o Cost - a big goose egg, nada, zip, zilch. It was worth every penny! What a great sunrise! What shitty video! Thanks Jan :P
Not too bad for 350 jumps; "knock", "knock" on wood!!
The element of suprise is our biggest asset!
