Hey K:
The October ad in 'Skydiving':
"You've been waiting..!IT'S HERE! See us at Bridge Day"
Are you just referring to the Bridge Day event or did you guys come out with some rad new product?
Thanks

I believe the product in question is the Flik, the new BR canopy.

Hey Spence!
Yes, Tom is absolutely right, we did debut our new canopy, the FLIK, at Bridge Day this year.
In brief, we kept the great characteristics of the FOX and designed in the changes from feedback from the jumpers in the field. You wanted Vtec with Covers, the FLIK has it. You wanted a higher aspect ratio, a smaller pack volume, and more control response. The FLIK has it.
Stay tuned for more details and information!

Hi K!
> You wanted a higher aspect ratio...
Instead of "higher aspect ratio", perhaps did you mean "higher glide ratio"?!?!?
Low (<2) aspect ratio (span/chord ratio) of BASE canopies is exactly what makes them to open very well on heading. High aspect ratio (2.5÷3.0) on skydiving canopies is what makes them open not exactly on heading (among other things...).
Could you better clarify which ratio you increased with Flick?
Stay safe out there

The Raven III I started BASEing on before the turn of the century was 2.27 AR, 45°+´s were only sometimes, but the thing I liked the most about no slider jumps was the controllability, in the 180° scenario, with a DBS, the canopy would fly negative with input from only one riser and then turn around, like backing out of a parking space.
I personally prefer controllability over on-heading. As in I would prefer to back away flying from the object with one riser and then turn as opposed to milking the risers of a LAR Just to get it to turn slowly in place, while sinking out big time.
Just my 0.02

BASE sacred cow #4,298:
"Low (<2) aspect ratio...BASE canopies is exactly what makes them to open very well on heading."
Don't know anything about this "flik" contraption, but "higher aspect ratio" doesn't necessarily mean 2.5 or 3. 2.5 would be over 25% increase by the way. A 2.2 would be enough to make a big difference in glide ratio and response to toggle/riser input. Ask anyone who jumps a Super Raven.
PD 7 cells are 2.5 AR, and they don't open off-heading any more often than a base-specific. They pressurize like crap (slider off), but that's another story...
