YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT SCOTT BURKE
I want to dispell this rumor immediately. This is not the first time I have heard this. I have been climbing in Yosemite for 25 years. I have done 26 El Cap routes as well as hundreds of other climbs in the valley. I have known Scott Burke for 20 years and I can say for sure that he is not an informant. I know this for a fact. He is spending a lot of time on El Cap for the last three years working on free climbing three routes. He has recently been working on freeing the Salathe Wall on the left side of The Nose. He is camped out on top a great deal of the time and he is an active member of the Yosemite Search and Rescue team with a park service radio, a SAR pager and a cell phone with him at all times. I am sure that he sees a few BASE jumps, but he is not a law enforcement officer or an informant. He just happens to be there and gets blamed when people tell their girlfriends or their friends that they are going to jump El Cap. Remember "loose lips sink ships". I suggest you all keep it zipped if you are even in a Natioinal Park and you'll see a big difference. There are lots of other people in Yosemite, however, who want to score brownie points with the rangers for whatever reason, but it's not Scott Burke, I assure you.
